Class of 2021, I know it’s been an unusual senior year, and professional senior pictures may not be top of mind right now. Nothing about this year has been normal, and most of the senior experiences you expected to have this year evaporated into thin air. I know that’s not easy; my son was Class of 2020 and we were in a similar boat last spring.
But the Class of 2021 is nothing if not resilient! You’ve managed online learning, Zoom meetings, covid-tests, college applications, schooling in your pajamas, modified travel plans, and more. Time marches on and here you are, on the cusp of graduation! Spring is in the air, area vaccinations are ramping up, and we can all FEEL the normalcy that is just around the corner! Take a moment to appreciate the extraordinary adventure you’ve had getting to this point. You’ve worked hard and accomplished so much — don’t you deserve professional senior pictures?
Treat yourself to professional hair and makeup by Meredith Ehler, a truly amazing makeup artist who will pamper you and make you feel fabulous. We could shake things up a little bit and take your senior pictures in Washington DC or Georgetown. Or perhaps you can get your baseball uniform and we can photograph you on your school’s baseball field! Or do some really creative photographs in your dance outfits or with your musical instruments. Your senior pictures should reflect who you are and what you love, and I”m open to your ideas (and I have lots of my own if you need some). High school graduation is such an important milestone, and professional senior pictures is a wonderful way to celebrate that.
Your high school senior year is also a part of world history. Covid-19 and the ensuing shutdowns are going to be studied in tomorrow’s textbooks. You may not think this year was something you want to remember, but it’s part of your story and it’s important to tell and preserve it. Take the time to get professional senior pictures — your descendants and future self will thank you.
